It seems like October was gone in a blink of an eye and we're already in the month of November, talking about holidays!
We accomplished many great things during this month but the highlights were our trip to camp Kiwanis and Biography Day. Our camping trip was really awesome. All the children enjoyed being out in nature away from the noisy city life and interacting with each other. They also had lots of fun practicing archery and and learning about orienteering.
Biography Day is one the most favorite events that we look forward to. Each year when they go on stage and present their speeches, I feel this was the best year. They always surprise me with their inspirational person and speeches. I strongly believe that our children are the greatest leaders of tomorrow and will definitely contribute to create an even better world for all of us. Thanks to all who came to see Biography Day.
We also want to thank all the parents who came to observe our community. We loved having you around and hope that you enjoyed observing your children working in a thriving community.
There are many projects that children are working on from creative writing and making timelines as their follow up work to research and reports. We also had a couple of debates and some oral presentations. We finished reading the book, Walk Two Moons, by Sharan Creech. The main themes of the book are hope, the discovery of self, and love for others. As a class history project, we are studying Ancient Rome. The children are very busy reading about it and writing their reports. We are reading Mystery of the Roman Ransom by Henry Winterfeld which is set in Ancient Rome.
To fund raise for the upcoming spring trip, the children have come up with a few ideas. One of them is making hummus which will be on November 17th. There will be an order form at the front desk in both the buildings. Please support them by ordering delicious homemade organic hummus.
The Thanksgiving Grandparents Luncheon will be on November 22nd at 12:00 noon in the middle school classroom. There is a sign up sheet at the front desk in our building. Please limit guests to two per family (if grandparents can't come, please send two other close people) as we have limited spaces for guests.
There is also a sign up sheet for parent/ teacher conferences. Please sign up if you have not already. I look forward to seeing you all.
