Another month passed and the Emus were extremely busy practicing their lessons, fund raising for their upcoming trip to Jekyll Island and of course, playing in the snow.
We enjoy practicing different units of measurements in our everyday cooking and baking; we love singing at clean up times and handwork at the end of the day at read out loud. The children had fun sewing pouches and making different crafts that the Native Americans used. We also visited the library to check out some books about the Native Americans and took a few other Going Out trips to shop for communal supplies.
I am reading them a book titled 'My Side Of The Mountain' by Jean Craighead George. The book is about a boy who learns about courage, independence, and the need for companionship while attempting to live in forested area of New York state which is very appealing to 9-12 age.
In addition to our regular Montessori work, we are practicing for IOWA tests which will be administered from 2/26/2018 through 3/2/2018. The children will be tested on:
Kids Bop was a huge success. All the children had a blast bouncing, jumping, and dancing around. Thanks to all the parents for always supporting our community.
